Dr. ROBERT WILSON ARD, 34, Spring Valley Road, son of Rev. Dr. and Mrs. Wilson P. Ard, was killed Saturday evening in an automobile accident on The Terrace. Patrolman said the Ard vehicle struck the right curb on The Terrace, near Park Place, and apparently out of control, skidded 76 feet down and across the street, coming to rest partway in a hedge and against a street lamp post.

Born in Bellefonte, Pa., he was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. Dr. Ard, who practiced medicine from offices at North Potomac St., graduated from the College of Medicine, University of the State of New York, Syracuse, NY. He graduated cum laude, being 17th of 665 students who received examinations from the national Board of Medicine. Following his intership in the United States Public Health Service, and three years of service in the medical corps of the US Navy, as a flight surgeon, he spent one year in the study and practice of radiology at Geisinger Hospital, Danville, Pa. He served one year in the Clinical Research Division of the Pfizer Laboratories, New York. Dr. Ard spent two years in specialized training and study in internal medicine at the Veterans General Hospital, Perry Point, and the University of Maryland Hospital, Baltimore.

In September 1957 Dr. Ard opened his office Hagerstown. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He was also a member of the Washington County Medical Society, American Medical Association, and the staff of the Washington County Hospital.

Surviving, besides parents, are wife, Barbara Ann; children, John Robert, Susanne Camelli, Abby Lynn, and Amy Lee.

Funeral services were held at the Minnich Funeral Home; interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery.
