Michael and his brother David were killed in an automobile accident on US 85, south of La Bajada on the north side of the railroad tracks. They were returning from the Española-West Mesa basketball game in Albuquerque. They were survived by their parents Mr. and Mrs. Frank Archuleta of Fairview; 2 brothers: Joseph and Jerry of the home; sister Yvonne also of the home; maternal grandmother Modesta Lucero of Luckford, Colorado; aunts and uncles: Mr. & Mrs. Raymond R. Archuleta, Mr. & Mrs. Jack Mannings, Mr. & Mrs. Leopoldo Ortega, Mr. & Mrs. Ralph Branch, Mr. & Mrs. Ray Sandoval, Mr. & Mrs. Alfonso Lucero, Mr. & Mrs Elfido Lucero, Mr. & Mrs. Alvino Lucero, Mr. & Mrs Raymond Lucero, Mr. & Mrs. Ismael Lucero, and Mr. & Mrs Fermin Lucero; and many other relatives.

Michael was a student at the Española Junior High (Town).

Funeral services were on 8 Mar 1976 at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada. Burial followed in the Holy Cross Cemetery.
