Nathalie Graves, 85, of Elida, a retired business woman, died Monday, April 26, 1999, following a lengthy illness.
A Memorial service will be hled at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Kenna, N.M. Cemetery.
Mrs. Graves was born Aug. 26, 1913, in Anson, Texas to W.E. and Lois Archer. She moved by covered wagon with her family to a homestead northwest of Kenna in 1916. She attended the Kenna School and graduated from Elida High School in 1933.
On August 11, 1934, she married G. W. Graves in Idalou, Texas, where the lived until 1943. In 1947 they moved to Elida after living in Carlsbad.
In the early 1960s, Nathalie moved to Portales where she worked for many years. She returned to Elida in 1972 and operated the Wagon Wheel Cafe until her retirement.
After her retirement she enjoyed quilting, cooking and visiting her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Survivors include three sons, David Graves of Elida, Donald Graves of RRed Rock, and Kent Graves of Roswell; one brother, Kenneth Archer of Portales; four sisters, maurine Carter and Maxine Reeves, both of Portales, Eddie Murrell Beard of Houston and Melba Griffin of Fort Worth, Texas; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to a favorite charity or to New Mexico Christian Children's Home in Portales.
