Son of the late Kenneth and Lela Barnett Arbuckle, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Arbuckle, and by two sisters, Beverly Haines and Barbara Arbuckle. His graveside funeral was held on July 28, 2014, with The Rev. Paul Armstrong officiating. He was survived by his wife, Brenda York Arbuckle; daughter, Angela Renee Payne (James); step-daughter, Ina May Jordan; step-son, Richard Seals; and an extended family of relatives and friends.
