(Funeral services were held to day (Wednesday) at 2 p. m. at the Miner Chapel for Robert H. Arbuckle, 78, well known Sherman Township farmer and carpenter, who died Sunday at Clare General Hospital after an illness of several weeks.
The Rev. Carl Briggs officiated and burial, was in Skeels Cemetery.Born on Dec. 29, 1885, in Brynston, Ontario, Can., he came to Gladwin County in 1887 with his parents who settled in Sherman Township. He was married to the former Ethel M. Rietz on April 24, 1907, in Gladwin, and preceded him in death on August 31, 1038. On June 12, 1939, he was married to Mrs. Kathryn Keller in Gladwin.
He bought his farm when he was still in his teens and began clearing it for farming. At that time it was just wilderness with no roads. He spent all of his life on the farm with the exception of several years, in Detroit, as a carpenter.
Surviving are his wife, Kathryn; two sons, Ray, of Detroit, and Eldon, of Bay City; two daughters, Mrs. Edith Whitney, of Breckenridge, and Mrs. Audrey Yoesting, of Saginaw; 19 grandchildren a n d 21 great grandchildren.
