Larry Warren "Smoke" Arbogast, 71, of Washington, died at his home following a short illness.
Born in Coppock, he was the son of Lloyd and Lois Spohn Arbogast. On May 4, 1957, he married Shirley Arlene Hesseltine in Brighton.
Mr. Arbogast worked at Washington Manufacturing, the Iowa Department of Transportation and Veterans of Foreign Wars in Washington. He also drove for the Washington Minibus.
He attended school in Wayland and served in the Navy during the Korean War. He enjoyed fishing, frying fish at the VFW and singing.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Larry Lee Arbogast and Rick Arbogast, both of Washington, and Tony Arbogast of Ankeny; one daughter, Jacqueline Taylor of Malin, Ore.; seven grandchildren; four great–grandchildren; five brothers, Max Arbogast and Ray Arbogast, both of Wayland, Robert Arbogast of Washington, Lee Arbogast of Tacoma, Wash., and Daniel Arbogast of Washington state; and one sister, Jean Payne of Burlington.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter and two sisters.
The service was held at Beatty Funeral Home, with the Rev. James Cluney officiating. Burial with military rites followed.
