Byrle was born March 1, 1924, in Basalt, Idaho, to Esther LaVada Robinson Bigelow and Don Ervin Bigelow. She was raised by her mother and step father Dewey Clement Peterson in Shelley, Idaho. She attended Shelley High School where she met Quinn D Arave of Taylor Idaho. Their first date was at the Spud Day Harvest festival. They married two years later on November 30, 1940, in Quinn's family home.
She worked at Pash's and lived with her parents in Shelley while Quinn was a soldier during WWII. After the war they lived on the old Spencer fox farm until 1953, when they moved their family of three, Kathleen, Stephen and Spencer to Lewiston Idaho. There they welcomed three more children to the family Susan, Helen and Cindy.
In 1963, Quinn was called on a building mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and they moved their family to build churches in Tacoma, WA; Idaho Falls, ID; Missoula, MT; Moscow, ID; Fairbanks, AK; and two in the Portland, Oregon area. They settled in Tigard, Oregon in 1973, where they operated Arave Construction Company.
Byrle was a wonderful homemaker, wife and mother. She was a talented seamstress and cook. She was a most successful teacher and filled many callings as such throughout her lifetime in the church. She also was a temple worker for 11 years in the Portland Oregon Temple. She was a devoted wife and was married 65 years to her sweetheart and best friend, Quinn, who passed away last April 11, 2006. She was a kind and loving mother who encouraged her children to do their best and celebrated their successes. Despite severe heart trouble she was very strong. She was an inspiration to all who knew her; her faith, wisdom and goodness will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband Quinn, her parents Dewey & Vada Peterson, also Don and Mae Bigelow, her brother Carl E. Bigelow and four infant brothers and sisters. She is survived by her brother Vincent Peterson and his wife Gwen. Also by Quinn's sisters Nola Conner and husband Jay, and Donna Carden and husband Don. She also had brothers and sisters from her Father's marriage to Mae who are Richard, Arlo Ken, Don Dee, Ann Marie, & Connie Bigelow.
She is survived by her children Kathleen Jan and Allen Isaac; Stephen D and Teresia Arave, Spencer D and Janice Arave; Susan Lanae and Jon Brewster; Helen Lorayne and Craig Woller, Cindy Lou and Quin Christensen, 46 grandchildren and 32 (and counting!) great grandchildren plus 9 nieces.
Funeral Services were held in Tigard, Oregon. A Graveside Services will be held at 12 Noon Monday, December 4, 2006, at the Taylor Cemetery. The family will visit with friends from 10 – 11:00 a.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side (963 S. Ammon Rd.) before proceeding to the cemetery.
