LOXLEY -- Roy Appling, a retiree of Alabama Power Co. after 41 years, died Tuesday at a local health care facility. He was 72.
Appling, a native of Walker County, Ala., and a longtime resident of Loxley, was a square dance caller in Mobile for many years.
He was a Mason and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Christine Appling of Loxley; four children, Celia Appling of Theodore, Angela Logan of Satsuma, Sherry Berges of Dallas and Cary Jessee of Saraland; two sisters, Nell Harris of Cullman, Ala., and Frances Davidson of Nashville, Tenn.; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at Radney Funeral Home, 1200 Industrial Parkway in Saraland. A graveside service is set for 10 a.m. Saturday in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
