July 22, 1922 – January 29, 2014

Hazel E. Gonsalves, age 91 of Honolulu, died peacefully on January 29, 2014 at her home, surrounded by family and comforted by her unwavering faith in God.

Born July 22, 1922 in Honolulu, Hawaii, she was the daughter of the late Emilia Veriato and Manuel Antone. In 1944 she married the light of her life Clarence Gonsalves and enjoyed 56 years of marriage before his passing in 2000.

Hazel enjoyed her garden and spent many hours tending to her roses and violets. Known to have a "green thumb"', she gave life to everything she planted. She was blessed with many close and enduring friendships throughout her life. Those who knew her will undoubtedly miss her loving and playful spirit.

A devoted wife and mother she shared her life with three generations of offspring. She leaves precious memories with her surviving daughters Cheryl (Larry) Cook of Nevada City, Ca., Valerie (William) Kauhane of Honolulu, son Michael (Jasmine) Gonsalves of Honolulu, and her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will live forever in our hearts. Her brother Clifford Antone of Oakland, Ca., and sister Dolores "Dee" Santoki of Mililani also survive Hazel.

Private services were held and she rests in peace and love with her husband Clarence at Hawaiian Memorial Park Cemetery. The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her as she prepared for her journey home.
