Adele Surgi Antoine of Metairie, La., passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at Vista Shores Assisted Living & Memory Care in New Orleans, La., at the age of 86.

She was born on Aug. 30, 1926, in New Orleans to the late William F. and Lise Pitot Surgi, and was a sister to Lisette Surgi, the late William F. Surgi Jr. and the late Marie Claire LoGiudice.

She was married to the love of her life, Eugene "Gene" A. Antoine, for 67 years and was a loving mother to Pamela Aucoin (Clyde), Eugene "Chip" Antoine, Jr. (Marianne), James Antoine (Kathleen), Lise Valliant (John) and Jacques Antoine (Patricia). She was a grandmother to Alise Durand, Russell Aucoin, Collette Antoine, Trey Antoine, Beth Antoine, Aimée Antoine, Jean-Paul Antoine, Melissa Valliant, Allison Valliant, Margaux Antoine and Mignon Antoine.; as well as a great grandmother to Adam Durand, Rachel Durand, Hope Aucoin, Lauren Aucoin, Logan Aucoin, Amelia Antoine Peacock, Jack Flukinger, Billy Flukinger, Madeleine Ogburn and Miles Ogburn. A graduate of St. Matthias Elementary and St. Mary's Dominican High School, she was a homemaker, devoted to her family, friends and Catholic religion.

She was a charter member of Geneka Sorority and served St. Clement of Rome Parish in the Altar Society. She also served as a Eucharistic minister and as a daughter of the Eucharistic Adoration Chapel. She was also a member of the Ferran-Taft Garden Club and the local Homemakers club. Because of her love of dancing, Adele and Gene were often found on the dance floors of Mardi Gras Balls, VFW halls and anywhere Big Band music was playing.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation and Funeral Mass at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. on Monday, August 5, 2013 at 12:00 Noon.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until time of Mass.

Interment to follow in All Saints Mausoleum.
