Mrs. Florence B. Moore
1873 - 1936
Following an illness that extended a little over two days, Mrs. Florence Brookhart Moore passed away at the family home, a short distance southwest of Lone Tree, Tuesday morning, February 18, 1936, at 11 o'clock. She had been in feeble health for three years, or more. Her immediate sickness began with a severe cold, which quickly developed into a serious complication. Heroic efforts were put forth to check the ravages of the disease, but no progress could be made. The inevitable end came in haste, bringing peace and rest.
Mrs. Moore was born in the community where she spent the whole of her life. The date of her birth was February 18, 1873. Her parents were Kyle and Mary Antill, prominent citizens of Cass County for many years. Her marriage to Charley D. Moore occurred January 30, 1895. They established their home on the farm where she has since resided. Three years she was bereft of one of her three children, a daughter; two years ago she surrendered her devoted companion. Two of her children are living, Charley Moore and Mrs. Lonnie (Faye) Moore of Harrisonville, survives. One brother, William Antill of Harrisonville, survived. Besides these loved ones six grandchildren are left behind as are other relatives and scores of friends.
Mrs. Moore will be remembered as a good neighbor and friend by the people of her community. Her children and grandchildren will remember her as an industrious, sacrificial home builder. All who knew her will miss her, and be grateful through the coming years that they were permitted to touch her helpful life.
The funeral service was held at the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church Thursday afternoon, February 20, at 2 o'clock, being conducted by the writer. The body was laid to rest in the cemetery nearby. - George C. Monroe, Harrisonville Study, Harrisonville, Mo.
