Allen L. "Shorty" Antill, 69, of Waynesburg, died unexpectedly at 9:30 p.m. Sunday, June 3, 2012, in WVU Hospitals Inc.-Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va., after suffering a stroke a day earlier.

He was born November 15, 1942, in Aleppo Township, son of the late Ralph Edward and Jean Kathleen Bissett Antill.

Mr. Antill had resided in Aleppo Township for most of his life, prior to moving to the Waynesburg area in 1970.

He was a member of Cameron (W.Va.) Christian Church but had been attending and serving as church treasurer of Greene Community Church in Waynesburg for the past several years.

Mr. Antill attended West Greene High School, where he starred on the track team as a runner and hurdler.

He enjoyed traveling, camping and horseback trail riding in the Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Ohio areas, farming and his pets and animals in general. He leaves behind his dog, Cricket, his Tennessee walker, Ranger, and his mule, Jenny.

Mr. Antill was formerly self-employed as an owner/operator of a Carnation Milk truck, a laborer with a pipeline cleaning company in Pittsburgh and several trucking companies. He was last employed as a truck driver for Select Service in Eighty Four for several years prior to retiring in November 2000.

On March 4, 1970, he married Vicki Taylor, who survives.

Also surviving are son Todd Antill of Ravenna, Ohio, and daughter Tina, wife of George Keener of Waynesburg; two grandchildren, Geo and Max Keener; brother Victor, husband of Nancy Antill of Aleppo; two sisters, Betty R. Forman, companion of Mark E. Moore of Salmon, Idaho, and Shirley, wife of George Dvorcek of Wheeling, W.Va.; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in Rush Funeral Home Inc., Rogersville, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 7, with Pastor David Crowe officiating. Interment will follow in Smith Cemetery, Morgan Township. Graveside military rites will be accorded by American Legion Post 330, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4793 and Disabled American Veterans Post 123, all of Waynesburg, and representatives of the U.S. Army. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Cowboy Country Network, c/o Greene Community Church, P.O. Box 408, Waynesburg, PA 15370, or Greene County Humane Society.
