Marvin R. Anthrop, 76, died at 11:20 a.m. Saturday, April 12, 2008, in his Lafayette residence.

He was born May 19, 1931 in Lafayette, the son of the late George and Marietta Buntin Anthrop. He was a graduate of Klondike High School and served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953 during the Korean War.

On Oct. 29, 1954, he was married in Lafayette to Patricia A. Morgan, who survives.

Mr. Anthrop retired as a firefighter with the city of Lafayette.

He was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church, the Men's Club of St. Ann's and the Retired Firefighters Association.

Surviving with his wife are three daughters, Peggy Anthrop, Donna (Michael) Vaughn and Vicky Anthrop; a son, Michael (Cherie) Anthrop; four sisters, Lois Klinkhamer, Barbara Wagner, Sister Jane Anthrop and Patricia (Wayne) Kingma; four brothers, Robert (Marilyn) Anthrop, Edwin Anthrop, Joseph (Jackie) Anthrop and Harold (Jane) Anthrop; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by four brothers, George Jr., Norman, Jack and Bill and a sister, Dorothy Ritchie.
