Carmel C. Anthony of Florence passed away into God's loving and eternal care Friday, Jan. 21, 2011, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was 81.
Born in Wilmington, Del., she was a lifelong resident of Florence.
Carmel held an insurance license and was an insurance agent for Condon & Skelly Agency in Maple Shade for 20 years. Following this, she worked as a title clerk for NADE in Bordentown for 13 years, retiring in March 2010.
She was a member of the St. Claire's Church in Florence, and the Altar & Rosary Society of the church.
Carmel also was a notary public, a former election poll worker, and enjoyed reading and politics.
In addition, she loved traveling and going to Atlantic City, and traveled to Las Vegas many times.
Carmel was a very generous, loving, and caring person. She was so deeply loved, respected, and admired by her family and many friends. She did many acts of kindness and generosity for others, in a quiet manner, without bragging about it. She will be deeply missed by all who loved her and knew her.
She was the daughter of the late Dominic Sr. and Rose Cicero Santoleri; sister of the late Helen Melloe, and Jeanette and Dominic Santoleri Jr.; and wife of the late Joseph P. Anthony.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Lynne Campbell of Florence; and her four grandchildren, Emily, Matthew, Patrick, and Julia Campbell. She also is survived by her three sisters, Josephine 'Pib' Kilchesty of Florence, Dorothy Drangula of Roebling, and Roseanne Cox of Burlington; her two brothers, Frank Santoleri (Rosealba) of Florence, and William 'Basil' Santoleri (Mary Rose) of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Dorothy 'Dee' Santoleri of Riverside; many nieces and nephews and their families.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26, at St. Clare's Church, 232 E. Front St., Florence. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Florence.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the viewing from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at The Dennison Funeral Home, 214 W. Front Street, Florence.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to the St. Francis and Clare Food Pantry, 1290 Hornberger Avenue, Roebling, NJ 08554.
