Alden E. "Red" Anthony, 62, 2424 Chase St., died Friday afternoon at St. John's Medical Center following a brief illness.
He was born in Anderson and was a lifelong local resident. He was a member of the Main Street Church of God.
He retired in 1974 after 15 years as a machinist with Lynch Corp. He was previously employed at Pierce Governor for 18 years.
He was a master sergeant for 11 years in the U.S. Army and was awarded the Purple Heart.
He is survived by his wife, Arminta C. (Pierce) Anthony; one son, Robert Anthony of Anderson; three daughters, Mrs. Jesse (Rita) Goodman, Jan Morton and Mrs. Robert (June) Bohrer, all of Anderson; one brother, Donald Anthony of Anderson; three sisters, Ellen Fisher and Norma Vasbinder, both of Anderson, and Roberta Haney of Middletown; seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Robert D. Loose Funeral Home with the Rev. Glenn Skinner officiating, assisted by Everett McVey. Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
