Edwin Leon Anthony
BRIGHTON: Monday, January 29, 2007, at Fairport Baptist Home, age 83. Ed is survived by his three children: Cathy Anthony, Elizabeth Blessington (Carlo), Sam Anthony (Ann); seven grandchildren: Ben Narramore, Jason Levin (Susan), Katie Spaker (Billy), Michael Levin, Peter Blessington, Madeline Anthony and Ellen Anthony; and three great-grandchildren, Karma Spaker, Azalea Spaker, and Maya Levin. His devoted wife of 59 years, Patricia Lynch Anthony, died in October, 2005.
Born in New York City in 1923, he moved to Binghamton, NY in 1934, where he met his future wife, Patricia Lynch. Ed graduated from Duke University with a B.S. in Civil Engineering, after completing a tour of duty for the US Navy in the Pacific theater of WWII. He began his engineering career at the New York State DPW in Hornell, NY. Ed moved to Rochester in 1955, to become a founding partner of Erdman Anthony Consulting Engineers. An accomplished civil engineer and community leader, he earned many honors over his lengthy career, including Rochester Enginnering Society's Engineer of the Year (1977). Under his direction, the firm contributed to innumerable municipal and state projects, including the design of many of the interstate highways in upstate New York.
Friends may call Thursday, 3-6 pm at the funeral chapel (2305 Monroe Ave.). Friends are invited to bring a written memory of photo of Ed for the family's Memory Book. A Memorial Mass will be held Friday, 10 am at St. Thomas More Catholic Church (2617 East Ave.). A reception immediately follows.
