Anthony, Charles S. "Buzz" age 92, died July 17, 2008 at the Minnesota Masonic Home in Bloomington. Charles, better known to friends and family as "Buzz," was born in Robbinsdale on May 3, 1916 and grew up in St. Louis Park, attending school in St. Louis Park and at the U of M. Survived by wife of 71 years, Jean Foster Anthony; 2 daughters, Maraline Keeling of Eagan and Karen Hurlbert (Ron Holbach) of Plymouth; 5 grandchildren, Tracy Keeling, Susan Nagorski (Jeff), Charles Keeling (Robin), Jean Hurlbert (Tony Abelson) & Barbara Nelson (Joel); 5 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Buzz retired from Honeywell in 1978, after 42 1/2 years of service. He and Jean attended, and were charter members of, St. George's Episcopal Church in St. Louis Park. Buzz was very active in the Masonic fraternity, joining the Paul Revere Lodge in St. Louis Park in 1945, twice serving as Master in 1953 & 1994. He was a member and past Chairman of the Board of Custodians of the Work, having supervisory responsibility for Masonic Ritual throughout the State, and was made a permanent member of the Grand Lodge of MN. He became Master of the Royal Secret in the Minneapolis Valley of the Scottish Rite in 1946 and served as Wise Master of Minneapolis Chapter Rose Croix from 1966-1968. He was Chairman of the Ritual Committee from 1973 to 1992, providing effective and impressive degree presentations. Buzz was honored with the rank and designation of Knight Commander of the Court of Honor of the Scottish Rite in 1961 and was coroneted a Thirty- Third Degree Mason in 1969, and in 1980, was a candidate for the Degrees and Orders of the York Rite. He was a member of the Zuhrah Temple of the Shrine and served that organization as President of the Ceremonial Unit in 1971 and as Director-General of Ceremonials for 3 years. He became Sir Knight in Zion Commandery, Knights Templar in 1980. He was honored with the prestigious Paul Revere Hiram Award in 1993. He was also a past Patron of Acacia Chapter #272 O.E.S., and past Associate Guardian of Bethel 41 of Job's Daughters. For many years, during the summer months, Buzz adjusted his priorities and busy schedule in order to provide adequate time for golf, working hard to keep his handicap in the single digits. He delighted in his children, grandchildren, and great- grandchildren, and was known for his "sermonettes." Memorials preferred to St. George's Episcopal Church or the Minnesota Masonic Cancer Center Fund, Inc./Partners For Life Campaign.
