Marcus Ansley

Marcus Ansley, aged 81 years, died yesterday morning at ten o'clock at the Ansley homestead, about five miles southwest of this city on the Preemption road in the town of Geneva. Mr. Marcus Ansley was born and lived there his entire life. His father, William Ansley, was one of tae original settlers here. He owned this farm and other large farms surrounding and erected a hotel in the latter part of the eighteenth century. This hotel has since been the family residence.

Marcus Ansley was for some years a nurseryman and afterwards an extensive fruit grower. He was twice married. His survivors are his second wife by whom he had two children, Mrs. Ira Winthrop Travel and Mrs. Warren B. Travel, both of Plainfield, N. J.; four children by his first wife, Frank S. Ansley of California, Marcus Ansley, Jr., who resided with his father, Mrs. William Black of the town of Seneca, and Mrs. James R. Scott of Washington, D.C., two stepsons, Attorney William S. Moore of this city, and Clinton B. Moore who lives with Mr. Ansley; one sister, Mrs. Margaret Page of La Fayette avenue, this city.

The funeral will be held Thursday afternoon at two o'clock from the house. Rev. C. E. Jewell, presiding elder of Geneva. District of the Methodic Church Will officiate and Interment will be made in Powers Cemetery near Cromwell's Hollow.
