Obituary of Audrey Annette
Audrey Arnette, 80 of Ocean Springs, died January 15, 2011.
Audrey was born to the union of Alvin Miller and Mamie Coles on February 8, 1929 in Ocean Springs, Ms. she attended Ocean Springs Colored High School (Elizabeth H. Keys High School), graduating with honors. Audrey enjoyed life as the oldest of 10 children until moving away to Tampa, Florida.
In Florida, Audrey's love for people lead her to the field of Nursing. After her basic training in becoming a practical nurse, she began her career working with veterans and in home care for senior citizens in Florida.
During her early years in Florida, she met and married Theodore Hart who preceded her in death. Audrey had one son, Joe Louis Daley. After returning to Ocean Springs, Audrey's passion for clothing and textile surfaced. Seeking various opportunities to display her talent and her craft, she began working at the Gulf Coast Cleaners. There Audrey instructed employees about how garments are supposed to look once they were professionally pressed. Impressed with her skills, Audrey was asked by her employer to become a part of the team. After many years of working, she retired.
Audrey later married Allen Arnette of Biloxi, Ms. They enjoyed their life together until his death. Being the outgoing person she was, Audrey operated a café where she was the main chef. She loved to cook and was called "Top Chef."
Love began to blossom once again when she met Lewis, her companion for 15 years. Lewis preceded her in death.
Audrey was a member of Macedonia, and enjoyed visiting other Churches in the surrounding area.
Audrey was a member of the Ebony Club and the Links Organization She was an avid reader and loved the challenge of a difficult puzzle.
Audrey's memory will be held dear in the hearts of her family which include her son, Joe Louis Daley, one grandson, Dante Daley of California, one great grandson, Dante Junior, and the proud grandmother great grandmother of triplet girls. Five sisters: Marie Cannon (Walter); Evangelist Myrtle Middleton; Mildred Law (Tony); Mamie Thomas, and Maudie Tucker. She leaves also to cherish her memory an overflowing abundance of nieces, nephews, dear relatives, church family, community friends and a very special friend, Arnell Miller. Audrey's parents, two brothers and two sister preceded her in death.
Visitation will be Sat., Jan. 22, 2011 from 1 p.m.-2 p.m. at the Macedonia Baptist Church. Funeral service will follow at Macedonia Church. Interment at Evergreen Cemetery, Ocean Springs. Richmond-August Funeral Home in Biloxi is in charge of the arrangements.
