Elsie M. Chadwick, 89, longtime resident of Chicota, went to be with her Lord on Monday, May 13, 1996, at 4:40 p.m. at Paris Nursing Home after an extended illness. Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home will conduct services at 3 p.m. Thursday, May 16, in the Chicota Baptist Church where she was a proud member. Burial will be in Forest Chapel Cemetery. The body will lie at the church from 2 p.m. until service time. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and will be at the family home in Chicota at other times. Mrs. Chadwick was born April 11, 1907, in Grant, OK, a daughter of William Perry and Bertha F. Annett. She married Lee [LeRoy] Chadwick Jan. 6, 1923 [sic], in Bennington, OK. She was a beloved wife, mother, homemaker, and grandmother. Her family treasures the gifts she gave freely - her cooking, her story telling, and her steadfast spirituality. Surviving are eight children: five daughters and sons-in-law, Pauline and W,M. Sipes of Chicota, Bonnie and Lloyd Palmer of Dallas, Christine and Rhodell Casey of Mesquite; Patricia and Toni Moore of Chicota and Nancy and Jimmy Moore of Powderly; three sons and daughters-in-law, Roy and Sandra Chadwick of Powderly, James and Betty Chadwick of Chicota and Randy and Linda Chadwick of Cooper; 10 granddaughters; 13 grandsons; 10 great-granddaughters; 19 great-grandsons; one great-great-granddaughter; and five great-great-grandsons; two sisters, Bertha Kinsworthy of Chicota and Opal Hardy of Houston; a sister-in-law, Jessie Marie Annett of Chicota; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, three brothers, and eight sisters. Pallbearers will be grandsons from the families of each of her children; Larry Sipes, Tom Palmer, Phil Casey, John Chadwick, Cliff Chadwick, Scott Moore, Brent Chadwick and Gregg Moore. If desired, memorials may be made to the Chicota Baptist Church.
