Mrs. Henry Hildreth, 69, of Chicota, the former Mamie Lucinda Annett, died of illness, Sunday at 9:40 P.M. in L. P. McCuistion Hospital here. The funeral Tuesday at 2 P.M. will be conducted in the Methodist church at Forest Chapel and burial in the cemetery there, near Chicota, will be made by Gene Roden & Sons. Born in DeQueen, Ark., April 1, 1894, Mrs. Hildreth was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Perry Annett. She was an Assembly of God Church member. Surviving are Mr. Hildreth, to whom she was married June 3, 1913; these children; Travis Hildreth, Dallas; Mrs. Robert Sparks, Foreman, Ark.; Mrs. Charles Black and Mrs. Glenn Cooper, Irving; 18 other descendants. Also these brothers and sisters; Willie Annett, Mrs. George Brown, Mrs. Jack Kinworthy and Mrs. Lee Chadwick, all of Chicota; Marvin Annett, Dallas; Howard Annett, Paris; Mrs. Robert Armstrong, Brookston, and Mrs. Mack Hardy, Houston.
Mamie's father was William Perry Annett. However, her mother was his first wife (unknown), not his second wife, Bertha Florence Massey, as stated in her obituary. Mamie had a twin sister that died shortly after birth and a younger sister, Maggie (born 1895), that died as a child. Consequently, she had no surviving full siblings. The family never knew her mother's name. She died shortly after Maggie's birth. Mamie's father and step-mother had nine children. Mamie was close to her step-siblings.
Granny was known for her delicious cooking, cleanliness, and generous spirit.
