Edwrad S. Ankrom, 69, of 208 Second Street, Mather, died Sunday, December 4, 1966, at 12:35 p. m., in Greene County Memorial Hospital. He had been ill for the last three years, but his death was sudden and unexpected.
He was born March 30, 1897, at Jefferson, a son of Milton and Elizabeth Shaw Ankrom. His wife, Ethel D. Pickens Ankrom, whom he married February 11, 1919, survives.
Mr. Ankrom was a retired employe (sic) of the Mather Collieries and had been a lifetime resident of the Jefferson-Mather area.
He was a member of the Mather Christian Church and the UMWA, Local 6151, Mather.
Also surviving are one son, Leroy Ankrom, of Mather; three daughters, Mrs. Margaret McDonald, of Cleveland, Ohio, Mrs. Laura Knisely, of Jefferson, and Mrs. Marie Bane, of Rices Landing; 12 grandchildren; one brother, Jesse Ankrom, of Steter, Ill.; and two sisters, Mrs. Elsie Willis, of Jefferson, and Mandy Ankrom, of Belle Vernon.
Two children and one brother are deceased.
ANKROM - Friends of Edward S. Ankrom, of 208 Second street, Mather, who died Sunday, December 4, 1966, will be received in the Lucas and Behm Funeral Home, Jefferson, after 6 p. m. Monday. Services in charge of Rev. Kenneth M. Lashen, will be held there Wednesday at 2 p. m. Burial in Jefferson Cemetery.
