Angstrom came here at age of two
Funeral rites for Robert L. Angstrom were May 16. He died May 13, 1983. Angstrom was born at Stratford, Iowa, on May 16, 1901. He moved with his family and parents John and Anna to Lincoln County at age 2; and had been a resident in the Wilbur area since that time. He received his public school education at the Crazy Run School in rural Wilbur.
Robert's life vocation was that of farming, which he was able to pursue for almost 50 years. In 1930 he was united in marriage to Bertha C. Carbaugh and continued in that bond until Bertha's death on April 13, 1965. The year following this he moved into Wilbur; and for the next eight years was active in his hobby of remoedeling houses in the community.
On April 12, 1973, Robert was united in marriage to Mary Allred Hastings, at Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. They lived in Wilbur, except for the past several years their residence was in Grand Coulee.
He was a member of the Lutheran church, the Grand Coulee Senior Citizens, the Wilbur Senior Citizens, a charter member of the Wilbur Eagles Lodge, a member of the Moose Lodge, a member of the SIlver Threads Seniors Travel Club of Spokane, the Wilbur Gun Club and Isaac Walton League; and he was a volunteer deputy game warden for 19 years.
Angstrom died at Sacred Heart Hospital, after suffering a heart attack. He was preceded in death by his parents, by his wife Bertha in 1965, and by three brothers, Floyd, Vernon and Albert.
He is survived by his wife Mary at the Grand Coulee home; by one son, David Angstrom, Spokane; by one daughter, Shirley David, Wilbur; and by two step daughters, Betty Deitrick, Post Falls, Idaho, and Lois Flowers, Richland; by one sister Inez Miller of Wilbur; and by six grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, one great-grandson and four step great-grandchildren; and by many other friends and relatives.
Funeral rites were held at the Wilbur Lutheran Church Monday, May 16, with Pastor A. F. Gerstmann officiating. Pallbearers were John Gialey, Doug Zacherle, Doug Johnson, Glen Deitrick, Tex Flowers and Bill Flowers.
Honorary pallbearers were: Dellis Angstrom, Merle Angstrom, Edward Angstrom, Dean Angstrom, Boyd Angstrom.
Angstrom was buried at the Wilbur cemetery and the Robertson Funeral Home directed the services.
