HERBERT I. ANGIER

WINDSOR (VT) - Herbert I. Angier, 84, died Jan. 23, 1999, at Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center's Skilled Nursing Facility in Windsor.

He was born June 10, 1914 in Westfield, Vt., the son of Alton G. and Iva (Johnson) Angier.

He received his schooling in North Troy, Vt., where he graduated from North Troy High School in 1932. Following his graduation, he owned and operated a woodworking shop in Westfield until 1941. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Company A, 35th Battalion. He fought at the Battle of Normandy.

He married Margaret Kendrew in Newport, Vt., on Dec. 26, 1945. He later graduated from the Wentworth Institute in Boston.

Mr. Angier and his wife moved to Windsor where he was employed at Cone Automatic Machine Company for several years. He established Woodcraft Associates in Windsor. After his retirement, he volunteered at the Veterans Affairs hospital in White River Junction.

He was a member of the American Legion Post in Hartland and the Masonic Lodge in South Troy, Vt.

Survivors include his wife of White River Junction; two sons, Robert A. of Claremont and David H. of Manassas, Va; one daughter, Mary Angier Largus of Canaan; seven grandchildren and one niece. He was predeceased by one sister, Marice Cox, in 1953.

Funeral services were held Jan. 25 at the Knight Funeral Home in Windsor with the Rev. William Hedgepeth, pastor of the Southern Baptist Church in Claremont, officiating.

Burial will be at a later date in the Newport Center (Vt.) Cemetery.
