Abraham W "Curley" Angelo, Jr
Birth: Oct. 18, 1932
Jefferson County
Texas, USA
Death: Feb. 24, 2010
Harris County
Texas, USA

A.W. "CURLEY" ANGELO, born October 18, 1932 in Beaumont, Texas, went to be with his Lord on February 24, 2010, surrounded by his family. A.W. moved to Houston as a young child. He graduated from Jeff Davis High School and served in the U.S. Navy four years during the Korean War. After a brief stop by the University of Houston, he went to work for Southwest Fabricating & Welding Company where he did everything "except" fabricate & weld pipe. After attaining the office of Executive Vice President, he retired at the age of 55. Then he met Jim Bernhard, of Sunland Fabricating, Baton Rouge, who lured him out of retirement into sales. Bernhard, Angelo and three others formed National Fabricators in Baton Rouge, growing and quickly evolving into a company called The Shaw Group, Inc. A. W. served as Senior Vice President until his partial retirement in 1999. He and his wife Suan have lived in Pearland, Texas for the last 18 years. A.W. loved to play golf with his wife and their friends at Golfcrest Country Club, he enjoyed going to Las Vegas, Lake Charles and taking cruises. He was very active in St. George Orthodox Church and was always known as a "straight shooter." You always knew where you stood with A.W. He is preceded in death by his mother Rose, father A.W., Sr., and two brothers, Jack and Harvey. He is survived by his wife Suan, children: daughters Deborah Angelo of Cedar Creek, Texas, Sharon Angelo Pasek, Kay and husband Kenneth Newbury, Jana and husband Charles Trovato, sons Steven Angelo, David Angelo and wife Rebecca, all of Houston, Texas, eleven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A.W. loved his large family and tried to keep them all "under his wings." As a close family they agree, without exception, that he directed and maintained balance between them. His seven grandsons will serve as pall bearers. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. The family sincerely thanks the nursing staff at St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital 6th floor "Cooley" ICU, for their attentive and comforting care and particularly to Dr. Walker and all the doctors at Pulmonary Critical Care and Sleep Medicine Consultants. Visitation will be 9:30 to 11:30 am, Saturday, February 27, 2010 followed by Trisiagion service at 11:30 am with funeral service at St. George Orthodox Church, 5311 Mercer, Houston, Texas. Interment at Forest Park Westheimer. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, a donation be sent to St. George Orthodox Church, Houston, Texas.
