Graveside service for longtime Portland-area resident Millard Keith Angell will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Skyline Memorial Gardens. Mr. Angell died Friday of complications from diabetes. He was 74.
Born in St. Francis, Kan., on April 12, 1917, Mr. Angell moved to Oregon in 1940. He operated the first portable dredge in Oregon in the 1950s and '60s. With his brother Dwain, Mr. Angell owned and operated the Angell Brothers rock quarry near Sauvie Island. The heavy construction contractor retired in 1970.
He is survived by three sons, Larry of Clackamas, Harold of Portland and Dale of Milwaukie; two daughters, Gail Wood of Madras and Wendy Angell of Portland; three brothers, Dwain and Howard, both of Portland, and Robert of Coos Bay; four sisters, Georgia Paris of Denver, Evelyn Hankins of Kennewick, Wash., Phyliss Kohl of Seattle and Albina Flannery of Portland; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The family suggests remembrances be contributions to the Oregon Diabetes Association.
