Hutsonville Herald – May 16, 1947

David Hampton Angel, son of Benjamin Berry and Nancy Jane (McCoy) Angel was born July 29, 1883 in Mead County, Kentucky, and passed away at the Schmidt Clinic, Robinson, May 8, 1947 at the age of 63 years, 9 months and 8 days.

Hampton was the eldest of five children one of whom is still living. Mrs. Ora Cook of Louisville, Kentucky. He also has two living half brothers, Issac Bewley, Vine Grove, and Ed Bewley, Rineyville, Kentucky.

Hampton lived in Kentucky until he was 21 at which time he came to Illinois where he spent the rest of his life farming in the vicinity of Hutsonville and West York, Illinois.

He was united in marriage to Goldie Sims, August 8, 1909. To this union seven children were born, six of whom are living and one child died in infancy (Chauncey, Feb. 12, 1926). He is survived by his wife, Goldie and six children, Mrs. Helma Rowena Newlin of Trimble, Illinois, Mrs. Wilma Doreen Nichols of Sullivan, Indiana, Fred Kenneth Angel of Princeton, Illinois, James Clinton Angel, West York, Illinois and Roy Dennis and Gevena Edith Angel at home. Four grandchildren, Carole and Dana Nichols, Sullivan, Indiana, Roger Angel, Princeton, Illinois and David Angel, West York, Illinois. Also a brother-in-law, Fred Sims, who was lived in the Angel home for 34 years.

Hampton professed faith in his Savior while young and united with the Baptist Church, later changing his membership to the Bailiff Church. He was an ordained elder and he kept his faith in Christ to the end.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Bailiff Church with Rev. Roscoe Devrick officiating, assisted by Rev. Clarence Bline. Burial was made in the nearby cemetery.
