Mr. Andrus grew up on what is now RFD road in North Beaumont. He built his home on RFD road and Old Concord Road where he work as a deputy sheriff. He said he would leave his home on horse back to make his rounds back around 1900. Later he went to work for Jefferson County as a foreman under Norman Troy. The county made him retire when reach the age of 85. he and his wife were both active members of Freeway Baptist Church in North End Beaumont.
