Mrs. Anna Stone Andrus, wife of William Andrus of the firm of Andrus & Church, died at 10:30 o'clock last night at her residence, 138 Prospect Street, after an illness of but two days. She was 73 years of age.
Mrs. Andrus had been confined to her home for twelve years but with few exceptions, had never been forced to go to bed until Saturday noon. At that time, Mrs. Andrus became critically ill. She was unable to stand the shock and her strength rapidly left her.
Mrs. Andrus was very well known in this city. Although she was not able to go out of her home Mrs. Andrus had a large circle of friends, many of whom made daily visits at the residence. The deceased was a member of the First Congregational Church and was a friend of the former pastor, Dr. William Elliott Griffis. Mrs. Andrus had requested that Doctor Griffis officiate at the funeral. He will not be able to attend, however.
The deceased was born in Guilford, Conn., the daughter of Captain and Mrs. Joel Stone. She came to this city shortly after her marriage and has since resided here. She is survived by her husband, William Andrus, and one daughter, Miss Florence Andrus.
Fifteen years ago last Saturday, Miss Fannie Andrus, another daughter was buried in this city. The mother will be buried on the anniversary of that daughter's birth, Wednesday, March 31.
The funeral will be held at 3 o'clock. The Rev. E.A. George, pastor of the Congregational Church will officiate. Interment will be in the City Cemetery.
