Florence Buegler, 103, passed away Thursday, June 18, 2009 at Pine Haven Care Center in Pine Island.

Florence Edna Andrist was born October 4, 1905 in Mantorville Township, Dodge County, Minnesota to Emil and Maude (Patterson) Andrist. She attended elementary school in Wasioja, Waterloo, Iowa and South Dakota. Her family returned to Minnesota in 1917 to run the Andrist family farm located two miles east of Mantorville. Florence graduated from Mantorville High School in 1924.

On March 1, 1928 she was united in marriage to Leonard Grass from Blooming Prairie. They lived in the historic "Little House on the Hill" in Mantorville across from the court house. Leonard Grass died on April 11, 1932. Florence and her daughter Shirley continued to live in Mantorville where Florence worked for 7 years at the Mantorville Telephone Company.

Florence married Raymond Buegler of Kasson on October 23, 1939. They lived on a farm in Northwood, Iowa until 1941, then returned to Minnesota and rented the Fred Stussy farm in Milton Township. In 1946 they moved to New Haven Township and farmed there until 1971. Florence worked at Libby's, Hancock Care Home and the Pine Island Methodist Church for many years. Raymond died March 16, 1971. Florence moved into Pine Island in 1971 and entered the Pine Haven Care Center in January of 2005.

Florence enjoyed dancing, her cats, playing cards, gardening, quilting, baking, traveling and family gatherings. She was the family historian and very proud of her Swiss and Scottish heritage.

Florence was a member of the Pine Island Methodist Church, Rebekah Lodge, Royal Neighbors, Farm Bureau, Olmsted County Extension Homemakers Club, Pine Island Senior Citizens, Mantorville Senior Citizens, Methodist Ladies Circle and a volunteer at Pine Haven Care Center.

She is survived by one daughter, Rita (Marlin) Roehrl of Brooklyn Center; one daughter-in-law, Rita Buegler of Rochester; ten grandchildren, Cathy Whitcomb of Hastings, Donn (Lynn) Frederick of Chatfield, Nancy (Melroy) Ronningen of Pine Island, Susan Pries of Rochester, Michael (Jackie) Attlesey-Pries of Rochester, Pamela (Steven) Mroz of Rochester, Amy (Bill) Rinken of Stewartville, Bryan (Maria) Roehrl of Andover, Bruce (Anne) Roehrl of Lino Lakes, Beth (Jeremy) Quiel of Brooklyn Center; sixteen great-grandchildren, Jay Whitcomb, Jon (Ann) Whitcomb, Josh and Sam Attlesey-Pries, Rebekah, Benjamin and Elizabeth Mroz, Reese and Emily Rinken, Michael and Kristin Roehrl, Grace Roehrl, Bradley Roehrl, Matthew, Jeremy and Mark Quiel; three great-great-grandchildren, Rose, Jack and Nick Whitcomb; and one sister-in-law, LaRayne Andrist of Lake City. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Shirley Pries, one son, Paul Buegler, two granddaughters, Lavonne and Paula Pries, and two brothers, Howard and James Andrist.

The funeral service will be Saturday, June 27 at 1:30 at the First Congregational Church in Mantorville with Pastor Clifford Christensen presiding. Visitation will be at Mahn Family Funeral Home Mahler Chapel in Pine Island on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. and one hour before the service on Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Mantorville.
