New York, USA
|Death: ||Feb. 5, 1895|
Mrs. John Andrews, was in Aurora Wednesday visiting her daughters; towards evening she was accompanied by Libbie (Mrs. George Hale)from her home to Downer Place, where Mrs. A. took a street car for the depot, from where she was to return home on the train. After leaving the street car for the depot she suddenly bent over and began to stagger; two young men noticing her condition caught hold of her and led her into the Hotel Warner, where she was placed in a chair, a near-by doctor sent for, who responded immediately, but found her breathing her last upon his arrival. As she hadn't spoken and no body happen to know her; she was not identified until the next day. Heart trouble was assigned as her death. The remains were brought here Friday and on the afternoon of it the funeral took place from the Methodist church, pastor Rev.L.Simes performing the ceremony, assisted by Rev. J.G. Butler. The sermon was based on two verses of Paul to Timothy, commencing "I have fought the good fight" and was in accordance with one having spent a life in the service of the Lord. There were the usual flowers for the expression of love, and the solemnities of the funeral were the greater because of her sudden taking off.
Mrs. Andrews was nearly 60 years of age; she was a native of New York state; was married in 1850; came here in 1856; was converted in the Methodist church here and became one of its most devoted members, leading a consistent and otherwise exemplary life; she was the mother of 8 children of whom three are now living; two daughters and a son which, together with her husband, mourn her sudden demise.
