A former Quincy radio announcer, Mr. Andrews was a graduate of Quincy High School and a 1950 graduate of Quincy College. He was a teacher at Rushville High School, Rock Falls High School and Springfield High School, retiring in 1987. A Springfield resident for many years, Mr. Andrews was a photographer, writer, drama coach and actor. He directed the Little Quincy Community Theater for several seasons and directed the 1966 Springfield production of "Raisin in the Sun."

A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he earned several commendations.
