Emmett married Mary Jane Green (daughter of William Henry Green and Leonora Meckes) 21 Jan 1905 in Carbon Co., Pennsylvania.

Emmett was an engineer for the Chestnut Ridge Railway between Palmerton and Kunkletown for 30 years, retiring in 1940 at the age of 70. He lived in Kunkletown most of his life and was active in the affairs of St. John's (Towamensing) Lutheran Church near Palmerton.
Emmett died in Palmerton Hospital and was buried in Towamensing Cemetery near Palmerton, PA. (Obit in "Morning Call", Allentown, Wednesday, 9 May 1945)
