OBITUARY MRS. J. N. SWAN
Mary Francis Williams was born in Oswego Co., New York, in 1847. There she spent her girlhood days loved and honored by all who knew her. In 1868 she was united in marriage to Dayton Andrews and removed to Illinois. Later they came to Iowa and made their home in Appanoose county, where her husband died leaving one daughter, now Mrs. Edmond P. Davidson of Independence township. Nov. 7, 1878, she was united in marriage to James N. Swan. Two children were born to them, Fred A., recently of the U. S. navy and Clara L., of the Centerville high school. Four step-children mourn the loss of one whom they loved and held in high esteem. Feb. 10 after an illness of but four days God summoned her to her eternal home. Faithful in all life's sacred relations ready to respond to every duty, she will be deeply, mourned by relatives and friends. The bereaved husband and children have the sympathy of the entire community. Three brothers who reside in New York survive her.
Tuesday, Feb. 19, the funeral services conducted by R. L. Shaeffer were held at Concord church and the remains laid to rest in Concord cemetery. Mrs. Swan was an aunt to Mrs. D. R. Guernsey, of this city.
