Born February 23, 1923, in Lafayette, Ga., he was the son of the late Maurice Neil and Foy Ellen Rhyne Andrews. He was raised in Lafayette and Atlanta, Ga. The family resided in Chevy Chase, Maryland in the years before World War II. Mr. Andrews served in Europe during WWII as an officer with the Army Signal Corps as a German language interpreter. After the war he completed his bachelor's degree at Emory University in Atlanta where he was a member of the ATO fraternity and the golf team. In the years following, Mr. Andrews worked for Scott Paper Company, served as VP of Sales for Floors Incorporated in Fort Worth, Texas, and ultimately retired from commercial real estate brokerage in Columbia. He was an avid golfer, water skier and outdoorsman. He possessed a life-long love of history, languages and cultures. He was very out-going and curious about people, their lives and histories.
