Sarah Cilley Andrews

Birth: Jan. 6, 1789
Death: Oct. 7, 1862

Daughter of Gen. Jonathan Cilley (a Rev. War Vet); Wife of Rev. Hugh Andrews.

Sarah Cilley Andrews is listed as the second eldest child of eleven children of Jonathan Cilley and his wife, Dorcas Butler Cilley [p15 of a slim book,The Cilley Genealogy, by J.P. Cilley of Rockland]. In the copy of that book once owned by Emily Cilley Poole [my great great grandmother], then by Ida Poole (as evinced by their fading signatures on the opening page, both buried at Bevis-Cedar Grove Cemetery), there are handwritten notations. One such note states that Reverend Hugh Andrews married Sarah Cilley on the 12th of March 1812. In the typeset content, this marriage is denoted as Sarah's first marriage with her second marriage to Major Arthur Henry also given by the typeset content.

Sarah's issue (six kids) from her first marriage is named in this order on page 15: Harriet, Jonathan, Eliza, Amanda,Dorcas, and Joseph Hugh (with Hugh as a middle name for the latter one). Her death date, on pg. 15, is given as 5 October 1862 (only two days apart from the gravestone's given date). Staunch Presbyterians, I believe her family records were within the Venice Presbyterian Church, Ross Twp, Butler Co., OH, where her husband was the longtime minister--these records disappeared [were taken] or were lost in a church fire, but my searches for them years ago turned up nothing (I do not recall trying centralized Presby. repositories, say Philadelphia PA though).

Author, J.P. Cilley of Rockland, __, did not receive back Andrews data for the next generation since on p36, there is no continuation of her family #206 there in sequence. The Andrews children/Bartlett have both cenotaphs on their parents tall monument at this cemetery, as well as actual burials (and markers) at Elias Hedges, wife Elizabeth Gaston family cemetery [Hedges Cemetery, Hamilton Co OH] on the Cilley side; so the Andrews issue will properly have dual entries once linked together (see the lovely photos posted).
