Oswald ANDREW was born in Ontario, son of William & Eliza Andrew who emigrated from Swanland, Yorkshire in 1830
He married Hannah Matilda WALKER in 1860
Oswald left Listowel, Ontario, October 24th 1878 to go west and claim a homestead. He Homesteaded 17-14-15 in the Os[rey district south west of Neepawa, about 3 1/2 miles.
Eli Walker. His brother in law wrote " A Pioneer tells his Story " published July 1981 in the Neepawa Press, as Neepawa was celebrating 100 years [ Extract ]
" We arrived in Winnepeg, which was then nothing but a muddy village, On Nov 3  After a few days we set out for Palestin, now Gladstone, on foot, accompanied by my brother in law Mr O Andrew. We intended to look for homesteads there but a friend advised us to go on to ' The Big Plains '.
Mr Andrew took up his homestead on the east half of 17-14-15, half of which is now owned by Mr H Tyndall and the other half by Mr Wm Plater... "

There died in Winnipeg. last Monday, May 12. Mr Oswald ANDREW, aged 83 years, 3 months, 17 days. Desceased was one of the earliest settlers of Osprey district and is well remembered by many present residents. he leaves a widow, three sons, John; Kellington of British Columbia and Dr Norman Andrew of Minnedosa, and two daughters Mrs Logan of Winnipeg and Mrs Plater of Osprey
