Born Celestina Andrés in Salamanca, in the province of Salamanca, the autonomous community of Castilla y León to Nicanora Agustin Garcia & Julian Andres. She celebrated her birthday on the 28th as many family members had their birthdays around that time. The family traveled to Panama by way of Cuba to be with her father, a silver certificate worker on the Panama Canal, which is how he gained citizenship - putting in a difficult railroad. She met my grandfather in Cuba and they corresponded for at least 10 years while her family settled in Buffalo, NY; my grandmother traveled to Cuba to get married and they returned to the US by way of New Orleans on 24 Mar 1924. They settled in San Francisco where they raised two children before moving to Redwood City. They moved to Sonoma County in about 1969.
