Ernest Andreasen, retired farmer of Webber, Kansas, son of Ole and Dorthea (Anderson) Andreasen, was born on February 10, 1903, and died at the age of 88 years and 19 days, on March 1, 1991, at the Jewell County Hospital in Mankato, Kansas.

Ernest was one of 9 children born to the union of Ole and Dorthea Andreasen. He was born on a farm southwest of Ruskin, Nebraska. He was baptized at the old Dane church south of Ruskin on April 7, 1903.

In 1909 he moved with his family to a farm near Bostwick where he attended rural school. The family then moved to the Superior area were Ernest grew to manhood and worked on various farms.

On December 30, 1926, Ernest was united in marriage to Mabel C. Peterson of Ruskin. Two sons, Don and Glenn, were born to this union. Mabel and Ernest started their married life on a farm near Superior called the Spear Place. They lived and farmed around the Superior area until 1961 when they moved to a farm near Webber, Kansas. In 1977 Ernest retired from farming and the couple moved to Webber where they resided until Ernest entered Long Term Care at the Jewell County Hospital on August 30, 1990.

In 1961 the couple joined St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Hardy, and on December 4, 1966, Ernest was confirmed.

Due to ill health Ernest was admitted to the Acute (hospital) section of the Jewell County Hospital on February 23, 1991, and died there on March 1, 1991.

Ernest and Mabel celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary on December 30, 1990. Ernest thought a lot of his family and was a true family man.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Nels Andreasen and Jens Andreasen; 5 sisters, Anna Nelson, Sena Sionsen, Matilda Andersen, Myrtle Andersen and Lillie Patterson and one granddaughter, Flo Lani Andreasen.

Survivors include his wife Mabel of Mankato; sons, Donald Dean and his wife Berniece of Alma, Nebraska, and Glenn Eugene and his wife Betty of rural Mankato; Martina and her husband Lester Roder of Lincoln, Nebraska; two grandsons, Rick Andreasen and his wife Carol of Superior and Jim Andreasen and his wife Deborah of Webber; two great-grandchildren, Rory Andreasen and Sarah Andreasen of Superior; 2 step grandchildren, Gayla and her husband Scott McKinzie of North Platte, and Bruce Carlson and his wife Jan of Grand Island; nine step great grandchildren, Jennie, Jason, Justine and Joshua Kussman, Chad and Sarah McKinzie, Cory, Lacy and Olivia Carlson; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 4, 1991, at 2:00 p.m. from St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hardy, Nebraska, with Pastor Walter Laughlin officiating. Music was provided by soloist Hartley Peterson singing "How Great Thou Art" and "Nearer My God To Thee" with Jane Peterson as a company asked. Gwen Petersen was organist. Casket bearers were: Kenneth Lee Nelson, Raymond Grummert, Rex Sykes, Berwyn Petersen, Gary Brinegar and Lynn Simonsen. Honorary pallbearers were: Albert Wyatt, Dale Banks, LaVern Andreasen, Harry (Bud) Webber, Dwight Marr, Clarence Simonsen and Francis Anderson. Burial was in the Spring Creek Cemetery near Ruskin, Nebraska. Megrue-Price Funeral Home of Superior, Nebraska, was in charge of the arrangements.
