Born in Arkansas as Martha Adelia Coulter, Adelia as she called herself was the child of William M. Coulter and Martha Chappell and was married to George Adolphus Anderson who died in Nashville Arkansas. She came west with her daughter for health reasons. With George, Adelia had at least 5 children:
George Adolphus Anderson, Jr. who moved to New Mexico and there married Mary Elizabeth Smith and where he died and is buried; Lula B. Anderson who died young and is buried in Arkansas; Ford Anderson who died young and is buried in Arkansas; Carrie A. Anderson who married Elmer Marshall and moved to Kansas where she died and is buried; Effie Iola Anderson with whom Adelia moved to Arizona.

Adelia's mother, Martha Chappell, dates her ancestry to the late 1600's in colonial Virginia while her father, William Coulter, dates to the middle 1700's with his arrival from England to colonial Georgia.
