ALGOOD Funeral services for Rowan D. Anderson, 80, of Algood will be held at 11 a.m. on Fri., May 20, from the Algood Chapel of Hooper Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Burial will be in Algood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. today, Thurs., May 19; and from 10 a.m. until time of services on Friday, at the funeral home.
Mr. Anderson died on Wed., May 18, 2005.
He was born on June 16, 1924, in Putnam County to the late William Olen "Dover" and Martha Evergreen Palmer Anderson.
He was a member of Algood United Methodist Church for more than 47 years, serving as president of the Fellowship Sunday School also served as chairman of the Administrative Board and Trustee for a number of years. Mr. Anderson was a former mayor of Algood and served on the Putnam County School Board for 1963-1967.
He was a life long cattle farmer, managed the former Woodbines & Anderson Dry Goods Stores in Cookeville and founded Rowan D. Anderson Insurance Agency, which he operated until his retirement.
For the past 27 years, he was a member of the Bangham Utility Water District and served as chairman at the time of his death (a position he had for more than 12 years).
Mr. Anderson served in the Navy during WWII from 1943-1946.
He was also a member of Cookeville Masonic Lodge #266 F&AM.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Stanley R. Anderson.
