Langdon Smith Anderson Jr., 58, a native of Lumberton, Miss., and a resident of Philadelphia, Miss., died Sunday, July 30, 2000.

Funeral services were scheduled for 1 p.m. today at McClain-Hays Funeral Home in Philadelphia, with burial in Magnolia Cemetery in Meridian, Miss.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, June McRae Anderson of Philadelphia; one son, Langdon Smith Anderson III of Philadelphia; one daughter, Lauta Anderson of San Antonio, Texas; one sister, Martha Anderson Willoughby of Poplarville, Miss.; one sister-in-law, Joy McRae Jenkins of Atlanta, Ga.; one grandson, Shawn Michael Anderson of Philadelphia; three Godchildren, Kevin Bailey, Jason Morrow and Mark Croswell; one nephew; and many nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret Henderson Anderson and Langdon S. Anderson Sr.; and one brother-in-law, Bob L. Jenkins.

Pall bearers will be Ben Bailey, Kevin Bailey, Mark Croswell, Robert Jenkins, Jason Morrow and Carl Roberts.

Anderson was a graduate of Perkinston High School. He was an Eagle Scout and a counselor at Boy Scout camp for many years. He was a U.S. Army Vietnam War veteran of the Army Intelligence Agency. He was a graduate of Pensacola Junior College and attended the University of Southern
Mississippi in the field of geology. He became a successful chemical engineer in South Louisiana with his own engineering company working on oil rigs for months at a time. He also bought and developed Bayou Black Marina in Gibson. Because of health problems, he sold the marina, retired and moved to Philadelphia to be near family. He was an active member of Good Hope Baptist Church in Philadelphia and considered the people of the church as part of his own family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Good Hope Baptist Church, Route 9 Box 383, Philadelphia, MS 39350 or to any charity.
