Denzell F. Zimmerman, 91, Russell, died Sunday, Sept. 18, 2005, at Hays Medical Center. She was born Aug. 12, 1914, near Paradise to Elvis F. and Florence M. (Benfield) Anderson. She spent her early life in the Paradise and Hornview communicties. She graduated from Hornview Rural School & from Waldo High School and Fort Hays State University. She married Ervin L. Zimmerman on Aug. 7, 1956, in Abilene. He died Oct. 1, 1987. She lived in Russell Co. her entire life. She began teaching school in 1932 and retired from teaching in 1979. She taught at South Side and Bickerdyke schools in Russell, since 1948. Her earlier teaching was in rural schools, including East Kannebec, Coyote Hill, Ilker, Sellens Creek, and Bunker Hill Grade School. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Russell; Russell Co. Retired Teachers Assoc.

Survivors include nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, a sister and a brother.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Pohlman-Heise Memorial Chapel, Russell with Rev. Warren Hett officiating; burial in the Russell City Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Russell Regional Hospital in care of the funeral home.
