Blanch Anderson, 92, of Valparaiso passed away on May 9, 2011 at the Arthur B. and Ethel V. Horton VNA Hospice Center in Valparaiso.
She was born Blanch Louise Thomas on December 5, 1918 in the small rural community of Springerton, in Southern Illinois.
She was the daughter of George and Louette (Fuqua) Thomas, both of whom preceded her in death in 1959 and 1974.
On November 1, 1947 she married Harold (Bud) Anderson in Valparaiso, where she lived for the remainder of her life.
Her Husband preceded her in death in August, 1990.
Blanch worked in the kitchen of Immanuel Lutheran School in Valparaiso from September 1966 until her retirement in May 1984. She was a longtime member of Duneland Senior Group in Porter, the Friendship Senior Group in Valparaiso, and a monthly bunco club since 1947. She loved playing bingo, working in her flower garden, traveling, bargain hunting and spending time with her family and friends. Her happiest hours were spent playing piano, which she began doing as a young girl, and celebrated as a gift from God.
She is survived by 2 daughters: Kathie Anderson and Vickie (Scott0 Ingram both of Valparaiso, 1 grandson: Brandon Ingram also of Valparaiso. Also surviving is brother George Clyde (Delores) Thomas of Fairfield , IL and sister Dorothy (Elsworth) Williams of Louisville, KY. She was preceded in death by 3 brothers: Earl, Irvin and Dale Thomas and 2 sisters: Helen Fiellio and Velda Foley.
A Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4-8 PM at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Rd Valparaiso, IN. A Funeral service will be held on Friday May 13, 2011 at 10:00 AM at the funeral home, interment to follow at Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso.
