Edwin Herman Anderson III of Elgin

Visitation for Mr. Edwin Herman Anderson III, 63, formerly of Minneapolis, will be from 12 noon until the time of the services at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, at Wait-Ross-Allanson Funeral and Cremation Services, 51 Center St., Elgin, with Pastor Richard Alarcon officiating.

Burial will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, Ill.

Born May 5, 1943, in Minneapolis, the oldest child of Edwin and Hilma (nee Saastamoinen) Anderson, he died Monday, Nov. 13, 2006, in Brownsville, Texas.

He grew up in Bloomington, Minn. and attended Bloomington High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Germany and served as a radio operator.

Following his time in the service, Ed attended Concordia College in Moorhead, Minn. and graduated with a teaching degree. He was a member of the Concordia football team. He taught grade school in Elgin for a number of years. In addition, he was a realtor in Elgin.

He loved his children and he loved The Lord Jesus. In the last few years, Ed was involved in missionary work in the city of Tampico, Tamaulipas, Mexico. He will be missed and remembered fondly by his family and friends.

He is survived by his brothers and sister, Harold Anderson of Billings, Mont., Richard Anderson of Eagan, Minn. and Darleen (Terry) Drehmel of Chippewa Falls, Wis.; his children, Zachary A. Anderson, Peter A. Anderson, Edwin Herman Anderson IV and Catherine Anderson; stepchildren, Timothy Benson and Ashlei Anderson; and many loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Anna Marie Hanks.
