Clifford was the third of four children (two daughters then two sons) born to William R. & Lillian T. (Todd) Anderson. On 29 October 1940, Clifford enlisted in the US Army at Fort Snelling, MN. He was assigned to 91st Bombardment Squadron, 27th Bomber Group (Light). When his plane went down, he was taken prisoner by the Japanese and ultimately died at POW Camp #1 Cabanatuan."
