In our modern age of mankind, it is hard to find a truly dedicated person such as Mr. Harry R. Anderson was. He was fully dedicated to his wife, his children, and his community. This devotion to his occupation of Superintendent of the Caruthers School District, lead him to represent our community and school in many civic affairs. He was the main person responsible for building the Caruthers Elementary and Caruthers High Schools. We, of the student body, are much indebted to his life and the accomplishments he gave us. Man is only given a certain number of years upon the earth to do his best to develop good among his fellowman. This life-span is so short, that very few men accomplish that which is their ultimate goal. Surely with all the many great deeds this man has done, he met his goal and used his life to its fullest capacity. He served his family, his country, and fellowman with the upmost of his very being. Mr. Anderson was born in Morgantown, West Virginia. He was graduated from West Virginia University and during World War II he served as an Infantry Company Commander in Europe, where he was decorated five times. In recent years, he was a member of the Selma Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rites of Fresno, the Caruthers Lion's Club, and the Society of the Fifth Infantry Division. in the 1970 La Puerta, Mr. Anderson wrote a challenge to the future graduates of CUHS. He challenged them to dream of ways to improve their surroundings. But not just as dreams, but ambitions that will someday become realities. The future graduates should strive, as Mr. Anderson, to make realities of their dreams. He accomplished, in his life, many great dreams. Let us fervently hope that we can accomplish as much.
