Edward A. Anderson Jr., ("Monk") 75, passed away Wednesday, August 3, 2011,, at his home in Falls Church, Virginia. Born in Lebanon on December 31, 1936, he was the son of the late Edward A. Anderson Sr. and Sarah E. (Roller) Anderson. Edward recently retired as Associate Professor of Mathematics from Northern Virginia Community College, Manassas, Va., where he taught for 17 years and served as advisor for the Alpha Iota Zeta Chapter. Other teaching experiences included Math Chair of the Math Department at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, Alexandria, Va., Math teacher at George Marshall High School, McLean High School, American University and Georgetown University. He also served as an NEA representative and as an evaluator for College Boards Math Examinations. He was a graduate of Lebanon Catholic High School, Lebanon Valley College and the University of Notre Dame. He was a member of St. James Roman Catholic Church, Falls Church Va., where he served as a cantor for many years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Denise Brooks Anderson; his daughter, Christine M. Anderson; a brother, Patrick J. Anderson; and sisters, June Kolle, and Sarah Ann Anderson. Surviving are his sons, Michael Anderson and his wife, Vicky, Fairfax, Va., and Joseph Anderson, Lakewood, Colo.; his brother, Terrence M. Anderson and wife, Catherine, Lebanon; sister-in-law, Regina Anderson, Middletown; cousins, Mary Lee Payton, Arlington, Va., Lawrence V. Anderson, Houston, Texas, Patricia Shyk, Harrisburg, Sally Barr Hoffman, Hershey, Carol Litchfield, Manassas, Va., Thomas Roller, Reston, Va.; several nieces and nephews; and grandnieces and nephew. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated August 12, 2011, at St. James Catholic Church, 103 N. Spring St., Falls Church, Va. Internment followed at National Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers were his sons, Michael Anderson and Joseph Anderson, and his Lebanon Catholic classmates, Francis J. Bonenberger, Edward J. Eisenhauer, Michael F. Horn, Frederick Leiss, and Leo C. Rudegeair. Published in Lebanon Daily News on August 24, 2011
