Forrest Glenn Anderson passed away peacefully on December 31, 2008 in Provo, Utah of complications from Lung Cancer. He was anxiously awaiting New Years Eve with his sweetheart Doris. He resided at 112 South 100 West in Nephi, Utah at the time of his death.
Forrest was born on June 22, 1928 in Fountain Green, Utah to Arthur Glenn and Theora Christine Christensen Anderson. He learned hard work at and early age. He helped his father herd sheep, he thinned beets, worked in the coal mines, helped in farming, and worked at service stations throughout southern Utah. He graduated from Moroni High School in 1946. He met his wife Doris Coleen Lund while she worked at First Security Bank and he worked at the Conoco service station in Nephi. They were married on March 20, 1953 in Fountain Green, Utah. They were later sealed in the Manti Temple on September 26, 1981. She passed away on February 25, 1994.
Forrest served in many capacities. He was President of the Flying Club, President of the Nephi Junior Chamber of Commerce, served as Nephi City Councilman for eight years, State delegate for four years, Vice Chairman of the Utah Municipal Power Agency, taught Scouting for 15 years and recently received the "James E. West Fellow" award for his scouting service. He was a charter member of the Juab County Search and Rescue and Sheriff Patrol volunteering his time and services for 42 years, making life-long friends along the way. He was an independent jobber for Sinclair Oil for 48 years. He is well known for driving his green gas truck throughout Juab, Millard, Utah and Sanpete Counties.
He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints serving in many positions, most recently a teacher in the High Priests for 13 years. He was happiest spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grand children. He was awaiting the arrival of three more great grandchildren to be born this year.
He is survived by his children, Julie (Bill) Painter of South Jordan; Jeff of Nephi; Jana (Mike) Keith of Mona; Joni (Tom) Bott of Woodland Hills; 12 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; brothers, Wendell (Carol) of Kearns; Merril (Cherrill) of South Jordan; sister, Dorothy (Max) Ostler of Salt Lake City. Preceded in death by his parents, wife of 41 years Doris Anderson, Brother Clair, Sister Mary Peel and her husband Perry, and his grandson Michael Glenn Anderson. He leaves behind many dear friends, associates, and customers whom he thought dearly of.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 5, 2009 in the Nephi Stake Center, 351 North 100 West. Friends may call on Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home, 94 West 300 North and at the Church from 9:30-10:45 a.m. prior to the services.
Interment will be in the Nephi Vine Bluff Cemetery.
