ARCH. D. ANDERSON son of Allen Stewart Anderson, b. 1858 (3 years older than sister Flora, later to become Mrs. J. A. Kemp) d. 4 April 1906 on Lake Wichita by drowning with Frank Hardesty when boat overturned and both drowned. Buried in Riverside Cemetery. Came from Bosque Co. to Wichita Falls early 1890's. In 1894 city directory as real estate agent of Cover City National Bank at 7th and Ohio. Real estate business with Kemp & Kell; Byers Ranch with Charlie Bean. Active with Butler Moore in development of Petrolia Oil Field, 1902-04. #1 speechmaker, unofficial spokesman, good M C - busy in many fields. Beloved. Wife: Bertha Thompson b. Miss d. 26 October 1941 - buried at Riverside Cemetery - age 77 of complication from auto wreck lived at 1805 Pearl - earlier at 11? Austin. Mrs. A came to Texas shortly after Civil War - Teacher in Bosque Co., before marriage - managed properties after husband's death. Daughter - Mrs. Thomas Bruce Greenwood (Flora Lynch) m. 11 Dec 1907 - he was Wichita County Attorney - their children were: Sons: Arch Anderson, Bruce and Robert. Daughters: Mrs. Alexander B. McCurdy (Flora Bruce). Daughter - Mrs. Mark D. Walker (Mary Louise) m. 1 Jun 1910 - she died 21 Oct 1918 - he was born in Ky. 1887 and d. 1951 he was the nephew of Dr. S. Burnside. Their children were: Daughters - Lenora and Mary Ann (Mrs. Travis Lee). Son: Mark Anderson Walker. Mrs. A's sisters were: Mrs. Minnie Stockton of Meridian, TX and Mrs. Rosa McNeal of Miss. Mr. Anderson saved the day at the arrival of Teddy Roosevelt to Wichita Falls when the speaker was struck dumb. Mr. Anderson rose and provided welcoming speech with preparation.
